When a man sat down at a piano at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, the spectators knew they were going to be in for a big surprise. He was dressed like a character from Newsies and he had all the charm and pizazz you could ask for.
People immediately started getting their phones out to film his toe-tapping number as he tickled the ivories with such vigour… But that wasn’t all he had in store for his audience.
Next to him sat his partner in crime, a woman who was fully immersed in his music. She clapped along getting the crowd to join in with her, smiling from ear to ear as she watched.
Then, out of nowhere, the woman shots “I want in on this!” Immediately, she spins around on the piano stool and jumps straight into the performance. This woman has some crazy skills as well. The two work perfectly together. Clambering over one another, they manage to both plays on different parts of the piano in unison.
“Too many cooks spoil the broth” is a phrase that doesn’t apply here. Four hands are certainly better two in this instance. Nothing is holding this stellar boogie-woogie piano duet back when the two get into the swing of it.
Honestly, it’s like wizardry how these two manage to work together and play this music at such speed. It should be an Olympic sport in its own right. If this doesn’t inspire you to take up the piano, I don’t know what will! I know I’m tempted to try and re-learn my musical scales.
