Track Star Goes From High School To The Olympics

By - 24th May 2019

There was always that person at school who was good at sports. Not like good, but super good. They were always taking it easy and still winning everything. Maybe there was more than one person, but you know what I mean. Well, this teen track star has taken that to the next level. He has broken countless records and is now taking aim at the Olympics. Oh, and Usain Bolt of course.

Matthew Boling is only 18, but his amazing records as a teenage track star have sent him viral. His most recent was setting the National High School sprint record at an astonishing 10.2 seconds. The boy is fast.

Talking about the record, Boling said “Everything was super surreal. Like, I didn’t really know what I just did.”

His coach says that “the bigger the stage, the bigger the performance”. That bodes well for his plans for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. However, his parents are in awe of their son’s talent and motivation.

Boling’s dad Mark said, “he says ‘I’m going to the Olympics’, I’m gonna say ‘okay I’ll buy the tickets’ because that’s what he’s going to do”. His son’s motivation is unparalleled and will take him far.

His mom described him as running “like a deer”. We can’t be sure, but we assume that’s because they are graceful and fast?

About chasing Usain Bolt’s world records, Boling is very humble. “I still have a lot of work to do if I want to catch him,” he said. We don’t doubt that the “Houston Hurricane” will challenge them in Tokyo next year.
