Have you ever thought that your cat just needed to be with its own people? No, well it’s probably better off in your care anyway. But, many homeless cats have a rough life and could do with better care. That’s why this province in Turkey has made a town for cats.
The northern province of Samsun in Turkey now has an area devoted to their stray cats. The Samsun Metropolitan Municipality has built the town within a 10,000km forest area. Officially an animal shelter, they are giving homeless cats a new lease at life.
However, the shelter doesn’t discriminate between cats. They save them from the streets and bring them to the rescue center. However, so as not to boom the cat population, they neuter and spay all their cats.
They don’t discriminate between cats of different breeds, ages, or genders. They even take extra care of cats with special needs.
Hüseyin Aydin is the resident vet and manager of the project. He has single-handedly built this town for homeless cats and saved many lives as a result.
There are houses, bridges, and all sorts of activities for the cats, but it is most important to keep them healthy. Aydin is the onsite vet and cares for all the cats. Healthy ones have constant check-ups, whereas sick cats get the care they need.
The town currently houses 50 cats, but they plan on expanding it in the future. The town is so big that cats can choose to live together or find their own alone space. It sounds perfect.
