This Man Volunteers And Naps With Cats At His Local Shelter And The Internet Is Obsessed

By - 21st September 2018

Earlier this week, the Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary in Green Bay, Wisconsin, shared some utterly adorable photos of one of their kind-hearted volunteers. Terry Lauerman has become an inspirational human that has inspired many thanks to these lovable pictures that went viral.

Elizabeth Feldhausen, the founder of Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary said that Terry has become a local celebrity at the shelter. Terry started coming to the shelter about 6 months ago. But over the last few months, he’s started attending every day.

Yesterday, when I told him he hit 400,000 views he said he hoped all those people would donate. I kept telling him, ‘Terry, you’re famous,’ and he would just do his modest laugh and go back to petting cats.

Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization that first opened in December 2016.

The sanctuary rescues cats that have disabilities from places where they’d be at risk for euthanasia. On average, the shelter has around 20 to 30 cats at a time. Elizabeth said they’ve managed to get nearly 300 cats with special needs adopted in the last 2 years.

We are a cage-free sanctuary that was designed to be a therapeutic environment, especially for our cats that are recovering from trauma.

Terry Lauerman has become a local legend at the animal shelter

He comes in every day to brush the cats and stroke them. However, sometimes he does find himself taking a cat nap himself.

But nobody seems to mind – especially not the cats. In fact, they love cuddling up to Terry as he comes into the shelter to stroke them.

Now he’s become an internet hero for his sweet nature. Because of Terry’s viral photos, more people have been coming to the shelter, donating and/or adopting cats.

Bravo Terry Lauerman, you’re a real kind-hearted human!
