Who doesn’t love a good wedding? It’s the happiest day in people’s lives. For most, we like to keep up traditions, “something old, something blue…” etc. To a bride wearing white, a father walking his daughter down the aisle and the first dance.

Nicole Cortez was marrying the man of her dreams and she couldn’t be more thrilled. Her father walked her down the aisle and would be sharing the first dance with her. The tradition is symbolic of ‘giving away’ your daughter and saying goodbye as you welcome her into her new life with her husband-to-be.

Naturally, Nicole knew that her dad would be a big part of her special day. But she had no idea what he had prepared for her.

Nicole’s father stood up to prepare his wedding toast – but he took it in a different direction

He bypassed the microphone and instead stood front and centre for the bride and groom. At this moment, Nicole knew he was up to something.

The look on Nicole’s face changed immediately when she realised what was going on. Nicole’s dad performed the song “I Loved Her First” by Heartland using Sign Language.

Her father performed a sign language wedding song

Though Cortez isn’t deaf herself, Nicole is a sign language interpreter. Nicole’s father wanted to show how proud he was of her by learning an entire song in sign language for her big day.

“He said it took him the entire year I was engaged to learn how to sign this song.”

Learning sign language is an incredible skill, bravo to this man for wanting to show how much his daughter means to her.

Don’t forget to watch Nicole Cortez’s father perform an emotional sign language wedding song. Also, at Happiest we love hearing all of your opinions. So please let us know what you thought of the article in the comment section. ?
