Student Creates Commercial For Adidas that’s SO GOOD that they totally ignored him

By - 6th January 2017

The thing is, this commercial wasn’t actually made by Adidas and the crazy thing is, it won’t be used by them either. I’m pretty sure once you’ve watched it you’ll agree that it most certainly should be!

You can watch the full video at the foot of this article, it’s a tear jerker, you have been warned.

Film Student Eugen Merher from Germany made this incredible, commercial which is more like a short film, he tells the story of an ageing marathon runner that is now living in a retirement home.

After he finds an old pair of his Adidas sneakers he is struck with the overwhelming desire to go running once more, but everytime he sets off he is restrained just as he gets to the front door, which eventually leads to his beloved trainers being confiscated.

No story would be quite right without a twist and you’re not to be disappointed, this one delivers in abundance with a side order of emotion. It really is storytelling at its very best.

I think it’s important not ignore the very strong sub-theme, this advert also makes us look at our society and ask the question, “Do we need to do more to care for our parents when they need us in our later life?” Maybe that’s the real moral of this story, We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

The Huffington Post reached out to Merher about the ad. He told them that he tirelessly tried to get in touch with Adidas but he never heard anything back.

“We tried sending it to the Adidas communications department but they didn’t really react,” Merher, a 26-year-old student at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, told them.

Perhaps the Adidas marketing department have been left just a little red in the face by the student showing them just how they should be doing their jobs. (h/t Huffington Post)
