Whale Swims Up To Diver And Refuses To Leave Her Alone, Then She Sees Why And Begins To Panic

Marine Biologist Nan Hauser has been diving with whales in the wild for the best part of 28 years. But a recent interaction was truly life-changing, literally as a whale saved her life.

Back in October, Nan Hauser was diving near the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. Nan Hauser was with a camera crew who wanted to film her in the water alongside humpback whales. But an unusual encounter was about to take place.

One of the whales swam right up to her and began nudging her with his mouth and chin. The whale then began to try and tuck her underneath his pectoral fin. This truly was an out of the ordinary occurrence.

Nan Hauser said, “He just wouldn’t stop touching me.” Nan tried to get away numerous times but the whale kept pushing her over and over. “He eventually pushed me up right out of the water on his fin. He kept putting his eye right next to me and I couldn’t figure out what he was trying to tell me. ”

“That whale was intent on keeping me away and hiding me. And I didn’t know why.”

For 10 minutes, the nudging and hiding continued. By this point, Nan Hauser’s heart was pumping and she began to fear the worst.

“I thought the camera crew was going to end up filming my death. One whip of a whale’s tail on you, and the pressure would break your bones.”

But the whale was far from trying to hurt her, in fact, it was trying to save her life. That’s right, Hauser was in danger, but from something else that she hadn’t noticed yet.
