Man Receives Text From Stranger Asking For Advice On Dress, The Response Changes His Life Forever

By - 13th March 2018

When Tony Wood moved to Spring Hill, Tennesse, he decided to get a local number for his phone. As it turned out, the number he got was a recycled number so every now and then he would get a random text or call from a strangers. But one day, he got a text that would change his life…

Tony was at home taking care of 5 of his children one evening when he received a text message. As a realtor it wasn’t uncommon that he would receive messages from random numbers, but this one was definitely not from a client.

He opened the text to find a picture from a young lady asking for an opinion on her dress.

As the girl had asked for an opinion, Tony decided to try make her day. Gathering his kids around, they all agreed that she looked lovely in the dress and decided to send her a picture back. The kids squeezed together to get in the photo with their thumbs all up, and Tony sent a message back to the girl.

When Tony’s wife came home from chemotherapy with their son, Kaizler, he showed her the text interaction and she enjoyed the cute interaction. They never received a text back and the family soon forgot about the text.

Their son, Kaizler, was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2015 and had been undergoing treatment ever since his diagnosis.

A month later, Tony received a message from a friend informing him that a picture of his children had turned up on a viral tweet on Twitter. When she mentioned the girl in the dress, he knew exactly what it was about.

Tony messaged the young girl, called Mandi, on Twitter to say ‘hi’, and soon he had somebody else messaging him. A twitter user called ‘i.l.l.u.m.i.n..N.a.u.g.h.t.y’ joined the Facebook group that they had made to raise awareness of their son, Kaizler, and then posted the link to their GoFundMe page on Twitter.

That’s when it all really kicked off. As the likes and retweets grew, so did the donation amount on Kaizler’s GoFundMe page. Within 24 hours, people had more than doubled the amount that the family had managed to raise in the past 26 months. The donations soared to $10,000 and to this day, they are currently at $33,492.

To say that the family are grateful is an understatement. It’s incredible how just from responding kindly to a random text from a stranger, their lives were changed.

I can’t even begin to tell you what this means to us, what this means for us. We have an amazing support of friends and family. The prayers have been non-stop, people have given their time and energy to help us in whatever ways they can. I am humbled by the generosity and outpouring of love we have received by the people we know, and by people we’ve never even met.

Kaizler’s family have struggled through the hardships of paying for his treatments over the years. With the new outpourings of generosity, hopefully the family can now get the treatment they need for their curly-haired little boy and have him back in perfect health in no time.

If you would like to donate to Kaizler’s GoFundMe page, every little will help on the way to his recovery. Share the awareness of the family’s wonderful story and be sure to leave your thoughts and well wishes in the comments below. ?
