Engagement rings are very meaningful and special to those who have them. They represent your love for your partner and excitement for your wedding day. Most people couldn’t bear to think about losing their engagement ring, but for one woman that became reality.
Mary Grams lost her precious ring in her garden back in the distant times of 2004. She looked and looked, but ultimately gave up hoping she would ever find it. She moved on, saddened. At least they still had their love for one another, even if it wasn’t represented on her finger any more.
Grams’ then-fiance Norman gave her the ring in 1951. She had bought a replacement rather than telling him that she lost the original.
However, 15 years later her daughter-in-law was digging up some carrots and found the ring attached to one of them! She told CBC about the moment she dug up the bejewelled vegetable.
Unfortunately Mary’s husband Norman died five years ago, but she said she is excited to wear her real engagement ring again because “it still fits”. The one carat (should that be carrot?) diamond was in perfect condition, and once the ring was cleaned Mary could get right back to wearing it as if nothing had happened.
