Doctors Line Up Behind Blue Sheet, But When They Drop It The Internet Is In Hysterics

Now, I’m sure most of you feel the same about having an operation – it’s not pleasant. In fact, there are a lot of people who have a huge fear of going under the knife which is completely understandable. But how can you ease that fear? Some anesthetists have come up with a way to help you relax and it’s done through song.

They’ve given their musical act a name, ‘The Laryngospasms’. A weird name, right? But for those of you who don’t know what it means, let me fill you in. A laryngospasm is a sensation of not being able to breathe or speak and it’s one of the scariest medical experiences that can happen.

They decided to call their act The Laryngospasms in a way of making light of surgery to help put people’s minds at ease. Their aim is to replace fear with laughter and we’re pretty sure they nailed it.  The musical parody group started years ago while they were studying for their nursing degrees.

The Laryngospasms created their group as a way to destress after their medical exams

With the stress of finals and the promise of a Christmas break to look forward to, the musical group decided to create a little performance for attendees at the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia student Christmas party.

The group dressed in their medical scrubs began to parody a version of Neil Sedaka’s popular song ‘Breaking Up is Hard To Do’. They aptly changed the song to ‘Waking Up Is Hard To Do’.

It seemed to go down a treat and they left the whole audience in stitches (metaphorically, that would have been bad otherwise…). With the success of their jam, the guys decided to record their performance decades later for others to see – and we’re so glad they did.

Don’t forget to watch the Laryngospasms perform Waking Up Is Hard To Do in the video below. Also, at Happiest we love hearing all of your opinions. So please let us know what you thought of the article in the comment section. ?
