Thousands of people audition every year on America’s Got Talent. This year, one of them was Joseph Allen. Everyone is keen to make an exciting first impression, and leave a lasting impact, and Joseph was no different.
Joseph is a singer-songwriter, and entirely self-taught. He even taught himself to produce his own tracks at home. He realised that he had a talent when he wrote a song for his mom and shared it to Facebook. Joseph had expected his mom to give it a like, but hundreds of people started sharing it. So, he took it to the America’s Got Talent stage. However, this time he wrote a brand new song.
Joseph Allen comes from a splintered family, but he loves them all the same. He was raised by his mom, step-father, dad, and step-mother. He loves all of them equally and thanks them for the upbringing they gave him. All four were in attendance, as well as a bunch of his siblings and schoolmates, and he did them proud.
Before Joseph started singing, he told the judges about himself. “I see myself as someone who can make a major impact in the world,” he told Simon. “I just want to see how much of a footprint I can leave on Earth before I leave.” It seems his footprint will be large.
His performance was reminiscent of Drake or Post Malone, and the crowd lapped it up. The lyrics were very appropriate, from the funny “up close Simon is a teddy bear”, to the more poignant. The chorus told his story, “In life, moments come and go. Take your shot or you’ll never know. Your heart will tell you when it’s time to move, ask yourself what you’ve got to lose.” Joseph Allen took his shot, and it was a slam dunk.
His last words were “After today, the world’s gonna know my name.” And it’s true. Remember Joseph Allen, because he is going to be huge.
Of course, Howie Mandel pushed his golden buzzer, and Joseph’s dreams came true. Let us know in the comments if you’d give him a golden buzzer! Share with your friends and family, and check out similar stories on Happiest.
