Paige and Daniel Zezulka from Athens, Georgia, truly believe that the greatest gift you can give someone is a secure and loving family. It’s something they’ve always wanted to do. So for the past 3 years, the couple have been foster parents to three children who dreamed of having a loving family to call their own. Ivey’s adoption has been something that has played on her mind for years.
Although all three of the kids are under the age of 10, they’ve already lived a pretty tough life. The eldest daughter, Ivey, hoped and prayed that one day Paige and Daniel (who she considers being her mom and dad) would make it official and legally adopt her.
Paige and Daniel loved and cared for their three foster children for 3 years. They gave them all the affection they needed to make up for what they missed during their early years in life. But still, Ivey hoped she’d be adopted.
However, adoption is an incredibly slow process, but last week, Paige and Daniel finally received the news they’d been waiting for. Best of all, they were going to surprise Ivey on her birthday!
Daniel and Paige told Ivey that they had “one more present” for her. They presented her with a small box and as you know, the best things come in small packages.
Ivey started to open up the box. Then she opened the tissue paper inside and immediately started crying as she read the plaque inside the box.
I’m going to be adopted?!

Honestly, as soon as she started crying, it really tugged on our heartstrings and we started tearing up too.
“We love you, sweetheart. We’ll always be your parents,” Daniel whispered to Ivey.
Paige was so happy with Ivey’s enthusiasm, that she had to share the precious moment on Facebook.
This will be my favourite video I ever share. This was the day we told our daughter that we were going to be able to adopt her (and her brother and sister)!
On the 24th of August, the Zezulka’s went to the courthouse and officially welcomed all three children into their family.
She had been praying to be adopted and we found out on her birthday that it was going to happen! God’s timing was perfect! Our kids spent 1,128 days in foster care, over 3 years. It is so hard for children to live in such uncertainty. Adoption is amazing and we want others to know that adopting older children and sibling groups can be the most beautiful adventure you could ever have!
