We all knew that kid at school who had massive feet. But it’s likely that none of them would have rivalled Zach Keith. He is only 13 years old, and his feet are already a size 18. He plays basketball and football, so needs a lot of different shoes. His mom Brittany tries her best, but sometimes simply cannot afford enough shoes for his fast-growing feet. That is, until Shaq stepped in.
Brittany put out an Instagram post asking for help, as she was struggling to pay for cleats and shoes. Prices for extra large shoe sizes can be horrendous to think about. With Zach’s growing so fast, this was her last hope.
She tagged some major brands in her post, writing “If you can do anything to help I will be so appreciative.”

For those who said they would help me share this here it is: I’m a single parent of a 13 year old who wears a size 18 shoe. He plays basketball and football for J.W. Stewart Middle School and will be attending Douglas County High School in the fall. It’s hard finding shoes and cleats in his size let alone being able to afford them at times. He’s almost in a size 19 and I need help. If you can do anything to help I will be so appreciative. @nike @atlantafalcons @atlhawks @fox5atlanta @adidas @puma @reebok @newbalance @nba @nfl @jumpman23 @11alive @cbs46 @wsbtv @officialeastbay @champssports @footlocker @dickssportinggoods
Little was she to know that the post would reach none other than Shaq, aka Shaquille O’Neal, who had faced similar issues as a kid. Shaq wears a size 23, and decided to surprise Zach at Friedman’s Shoes in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Mom couldn’t afford shoes. The kid had big feet,” O’Neal said. “I just kind of reminisced about how that used to be me, my mom and my dad.”
Shaq bough the 13-year-old 10 pairs of shoes, including dress shoes that his mom had not been able to buy him for over five years.
“For me it was just very touching, very heartfelt, to know there is someone out there that has his back,” said Brittany.
What’s more, Shaq gave Zach some spending money, basketball tips, and even his personal mobile number. It was a treat for the teenager to meet his hero.
“I thought this was a good thing to do,” O’Neal said. “Kid plays basketball, and Bruce did it for me, and I just want to return the favor.”
