In April 2018, Pope Francis paid a visit to the St. Paul of the Cross Parish in Rome, Italy. He spoke to the people and even hosted a question and answer session with the children of the neighbourhood.
But things took an emotional and unexpected turn as a little boy stepped up to the microphone to speak to Pope Francis.
Emanuele, the little boy was about to ask his question but then got stage fright under the pressure and just stood there nervously. “I can’t do it,” he cried.
The pope then kindly asked Emanuele to join him on stage. “Come to me, Emanuele. Come and whisper it in my ear.” The young boy obliged and cried to Pope Francis as he hugged him.
The pair exchanged words and shared a very powerful and heartwarming moment together before Emanuele returned to his seat. As he wiped the tears from his face, Pope Francis, with permission of Emanuele, recited the question the young boy wished to ask him.
“If only we could all cry like Emanuele when we have an ache in our hearts like he has,”
The video below truly melted my heart. Emanuele wanted to know if his father who had recently passed away would be in heaven as he was a non-believer. Pope Francis had the right words to help young Emanuele with his heartache.
