If you’ve ever tried swing dancing, you will know that it is a hard dance form to perfect. With the man leading the woman in an energetic routine, it can be hard to let go and allow your body to move fluidly the music. But John Lindo is a master of his art and challenging stereotypes with his fantastic rhythm.
When you think of a professional dancer you probably imagine a slender, toned person with great flexibility. So when you first look at John Lindo, the last thing that you would expect him to be is a dancer. But John just goes to show that you can’t judge a book by its cover as his impressive talents shine through in his fantastic dancing.
John has enjoyed dancing for decades, leading numerous female dance partners to dancing success. A regular competitor on the swing dance scene, John has been winning competitions regularly since he began dancing in 1992. He has made a name for himself on the West Coast Swing circuit, winning first place in several competitions including the Grand Nationals and U.S Open. He is the also the Phoenix Champion of Champions.
In the video below, John dances with his partner, Deborah Szekely, all the way to first place. The audience can’t help but jump up onto their feet as they become infected by John’s amazing spirit and soulful moves. John is an absolute natural – I’ve never seen somebody move their hips so smoothly before!
