Hadley Gray may only be tiny, but she’s one tough cookie! This little girl from East Tennessee has been battling acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) for months on end. But this little girl is a persistent fighter.
Combining her strength with the incredible medical care she received at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, Hadley’s cancer was now in remission.
This is a momentous occasion in any survivor’s life, not just for her but for all around her. So the doctors and nurses wanted to do something special for her.
It’s become a tradition for the staff at St. Jude’s to sing a song for all the children who have managed to overcome their battle with cancer. And it leaves every little fighter with the biggest grins on their faces – Hadley was no exception.
The staff all sang a “No Mo’ Chemo” song for Hadley Gray
Hadley’s mom, Brittany Gray, recorded the video while she waited for the news with Hadley’s dad and grandfather. Then out of nowhere, the “No Mo’ Chemo” party began.
Beating cancer really is a team effort and kindness, smiles and a positive attitude really do help you gain strength and confidence.
A flurry of medical staff burst into the room with balloons before they began to sing:
Our patients have the cutest S-M-I-L-E,
Our patients have the sweetest H-E-A-R-T,
Oh, we love to see you every day,
But now’s the time we get to say,
‘Pack up your bags, get out the door,
You don’t need chemo anymore!’
Once their song is finished, the medical team shower the little girl in sparkly confetti. Hadley Gray looked over the moon! You can really see the passion these professionals have for helping people.
It’s the little things that go a long way and seeing this little girl smile is too precious.
