It’s one of those things in life that every parent fears – nobody turning up to your child’s birthday party. When one mom invited 30 children to her son’s fourth birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, she was heartbroken when nobody turned up. In fact, she was devastated. Furthermore, her son felt so alone.
She had reserved space for the celebration at the Chuck E. Cheese parlor in New Jersey. But when nobody turned up, little Evan’s face tore his mother’s heart in two.
He was looking at the door. You saw the disappointment on his face.
Angel Kanzanis (Evan’s mom) stated how upset she and her son were. Even the employees felt bad for little Evan.
“I immediately ran to the kitchen and was so upset,” said Taylor Inzinna, a worker at the New Jersey parlor.
[The mother] was handling it so much better than I was. … She held it together and never let Evan know for a second she was upset, which I think was super awesome.
The Chuck E. Cheese employee wanted to do something to try and rectify this horrible incident
Taylor wanted to do everything she could to salvage Evan’s birthday for him. She posted on Facebook that she wanted to give the boy a party with presents. Members of her family, friends and her colleagues all rallied together to help.
Within three to four days, I had about 13 gifts.
Taylor contacted Angel and said that her work wanted to do something for Evan to make him feel special. She then asked if they wouldn’t mind coming back in again. Taylor didn’t say anything about the presents. Thankfully, Angel agreed and both her and Evan returned.
The day he came back in, seeing the smile on his face was everything I wanted. I had one goal that day and my goal was to make sure that he left happy. And he left going, ‘Oh my God, Mom, this is the best day ever.”
Evan’s mother was so overcome with emotion when she saw how happy her son was. Then he was presented with a huge pile of wrapped gifts.
I was shocked, I had to keep myself from crying. I didn’t want him to see how this affected me. They made him feel a million dollars like he was the most important kid in the whole world. He is not going to forget it. He remembers everyone and everything.
