You’re only as old as you feel, and the residents of the Julia Wallace Retirement Village are certainly proving that no matter how old you are, you’re never too old for a good dance around.
Taylor Swift’s music video for ‘Shake It Off’ is known for its quirkiness. While Taylor dances around in a ballet tutu, she goofily fools around in what would usually be considered serious situations – such as a ballet class or hip-hop dancing in the street.
The residents of the retirement village loved her music video so much that they wanted to put together their own version. Copying the scenes from the popular music video, they set it in their retirement village, with one expressive lady taking the main role of Taylor.
Some retirement homes have activities such as playing cards, or have day trips out, but this retirement home sets the bar high. Spending a week filming the music video, they managed to incorporate over 50 residents into the music video and it looks like they had a great time filming it.
The video is an extravaganza of fun and frolicking as the 50 residents throw themselves into it and dance around. The average age of the residents is 82 and combined, their ages reach over 4000 years. It just goes to show that you’re never too old to ‘shake it off’!
