The airplane is one of life’s greatest inventions. To this day, people are still baffled by how a giant metal cylinder can soar up into the sky and transport you to another country in a matter of hours. Airports on the other hand, well, that’s a different story. Nobody likes the queues, the stress of baggage claim or the frightful pat-downs. But everyone knows that delays are the absolute worst! Southwest decided to try and lighten the mood of the passengers who were waiting at the gate with a bit of ‘audience participation’.
In fact, Southwest Airlines created quite the party atmosphere with a very simple strategy to lighten the mood.
Mike Vadala who captured the footage said: “So our gate at Nola Southwest required everyone who asked a question to sing”.
I think the tactics were to deter people asking the same questions of “when will the plane be board-able” over and over again. However, one man was not put off by their demands.
In the video, you can see him holding onto the intercom while serenading fellow holidaymakers with his rendition of “No Diggity“. 50 seconds into the performance and the whole room is joining in.
