It’s hard to know what to wear for a wedding. You want to look your best, but can never overshadow the bride, especially as a bridesmaid. That’s white out of the question then! At least for guys, they just wear a nice suit. For women, the decision is a lot harder. But, when this laid-back bride suggested her bridesmaids could wear anything they wanted, her sister took it a bit far…
Christina Meador, 38 years old and from Texas, says it all started out as a joke. But, soon it got out of hand. Her sister, the bride, Deanna, said she could wear whatever she wanted on the day. So, Christina naturally threw out some wild ideas. A dinosaur costume? Doctor Who’s TARDIS? Deanna didn’t think she’d do it, so said yes.
Christina arrived on the big day in Nebraska with dinosaur costume in hand, ready to undertake her bridesmaid and maid of honor duties. However, she did take a spare dress just in case. She reminded her sister of her intentions, and from there it became a game of “chicken”. Neither sister would back down.
So, the wedding unfolded, and Deanna looked beautiful in her white gown. And Christina looked… Well, she looked like a T-rex! She shared the photos on social media, and the whole thing got way out of hand. This is Christina without her dinosaur costume:
“A couple of people asked if they could share it,” said Christina. “And with my sister’s permission I posted it on my Facebook page and allowed the closed group members to share from there – and then it got way bigger than expected.
“But it’s nice to see that most people get it, and the few who didn’t were at least just showing concern for my sister’s feelings, not knowing her or the situation.”
As for Deanna, she loved the costume! She explained to one commenter who brandished it a “joke” what the real message was.
“It’s not a joke, it’s a giant middle finger at spending thousands of dollars and putting ungodly amounts of pressure on ourselves just to please a bunch of people who, in the end, only want free food and drinks.
“The point was to get married to the man who treats me like I hung the moon, and we did that part.”
