The sea is a little bit scary isn’t it? We’ve all seen Blue Planet, we know what strange creatures lurk beneath the surface. But, we’ve also all seen Jaws. However, you never think it’s going to become a reality. Unless you’re going shark diving or are just a weirdo who goes looking for apex predators, you hope to never see a shark in the water.
Paige Winter was swimming in North Carolina when she was attacked by a bull shark. While not the stereotypical Great White, bull sharks are notoriously dangerous. Paige was lucky to walk away with her life.
However, her injuries were life-changing. Both of her hands were mangled, and her left leg was amputated above the knee. But the 17-year-old isn’t letting that dampen her spirits. She says she is still the same girl that she has always been.
“I’m still Paigey,” she said in an interview. “Just… A little different. I’ve got some pieces of the puzzle missing. It’s okay.”
The inspirational teen is still coming to terms with her injuries, but is looking on the bright side. She came away with her life, which is nothing short of a miracle. We wish her all the best in her recovery. It seems like her positive mental attitude will help her on her road to recovery. We can tell from her confidence that she has a bright future ahead of her.
