Dogs are some of the greatest, cutest and most loving animals in the world – fact! They bring so much loyalty and love to our lives, but unfortunately, sometimes they find themselves in a spot of bother. One canine had sadly lost his brother and he was really struggling to cope with the loss. In fact, George, the pup in question, became depressed. But the depressed dog was about to get a big surprise.
Things were about to change for George the depressed dog
George had reached a low point in his life, but soon that would all change thanks to his human mom, Jacquie. George once had a brother, a Labrador named Blackie that he loved very much. When Blackie passed away, Jacquie Litton started to notice that George had become very introverted.
It turns out that humans aren’t the only species to suffer from depression. George struggled with grief for 2 years after Jacquie’s other dog passed away. George’s anxiety got so bad that he nearly died twice as he wouldn’t eat.
“He doesn’t eat, he would starve himself, he would have anxiety, he’s had multitudes of skin infections from chewing on himself.”
Worried that George wouldn’t return from his heartbroken state, Jacquie tried her best to try and lift her depressed dog’s spirits. That’s when Jacquie came up with a great plan to get George out of his funk.
George got a new best friend to play with
Out of nowhere, a duck appeared on Jacquie’s property. Somehow, the duck helped George stop being down in the dumps. Now, the new pare are inseparable. Even though it’s not the most likely of friendships, the two are a really adorable pair of new best friends.
“We have no idea where this duck came from but he sure does love George and since the duck has arrived George has not cried one time,”
“It is strange for a Duck to just appear at our house and be attached to your dog and even more strangely the anniversary week of Blackie’s passing,”
Jacquie humorously named the duck “Donald” and he loves his new canine companion. Donald feels so comfortable with George that he rests his bill on him and they both cuddle up together.
The two unlikely friends love going for walks together. George strolls around with Donald quacking and waddling behind.
“you wonder if they’re really having a conversation”.
“I must say this Duck has found the Golden Egg because anyone who knows me knows this is one ‘Lucky Duck’. I will take the best of care of him… hoping that he stays around.”
George is so smitten with his new best pal that he even gave him his bed to sleep on. Talk about affection. Donald and George are such an unlikely duo but George is a depressed dog no more!
It looks like Donald isn’t going anywhere in a hurry and that’s okay with Jacquie and George – they love the company.
