Working with wildlife can be a career that is both rewarding and risky. But those who get into it, do so because of their thriving passion to help and nurture animals.
For one man, he was about to receive one of the greatest and rarest perks of the job. Dolph Volker is a volunteer at the Cheetah Experience in South Africa.
Dolph decided to take a nap on the grass after a long day of work. But he never expected what happened to him next.
Slowly but steadily, a large female cheetah walked towards Dolph
Big cats like these are being preserved to help manage the population. They can be quite shy and reserved creatures who don’t always take too kindly to humans who interrupt their daily routines. Thankfully, this cheetah was in the mood for a hug.
Dolph was about to experience a cheetah hug for the first time
For months, Dolph has worked to try and gain the confidence of these creatures. Thankfully, after all the hours he’d put into earning their trust, his hard work had finally paid off.
In fact, this female cheetah seemed pretty comfortable with Dolph. She even fell asleep in his arms and got cosy. If that’s not job satisfaction, I honestly don’t know what is?!
