You’re never too old to try something new. Frank Nardone can tell you this. In 2016, this grandfather decided to learn how to play the ukelele. He spent a lot of time practising and even managed to get a few songs under his belt for good measure.
One song that he particularly loves to play is “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” by Judy Garland from the classic movie; The Wizard of Oz.
But with his newfound ukelele skills at his disposal, what he really wanted was someone to sing along with him. Thankfully, he has a willing volunteer in his granddaughter who was more than happy to join in.
Frank has to be one of the jolliest grandfathers in the world. But it’s the bond between him and his granddaughter that makes it all the more special.
Brooke and Frank perform like real pros
Brooke Falls, Frank’s granddaughter had dropped in to see him and his wife Marie at their retirement home in central Florida.
Donna Dugan (Brooke’s mother and Frank’s daughter) says that she and her daughter live near Philadelphia so they don’t often get the chance to visit her parents. But when they manage to get there, they love to cherish every moment.
Brooke had recently turned 18. In Brooke and Frank’s video below, Brooke holds up a sign with the number 18 on it. She then flips it over to Frank who’s 81. Shortly after, the duo begins their rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. They way the two perform together, you’d have thought they’d both been doing this for years!
For Brooke, she actually has. Brooke has been singing professionally for 6 years now and she plans to make it a career of hers. So far, she’s off to a pretty good start – she’s already performed in New Jersey and New York.
