Mom 98, Moves Into Nursing Home To Look After Her 80 y/o Son Because “A Mothers Work Is Never Done”

By - 31st October 2017

You never stop being a mom, no matter how old you get. 98-year-old Ada Keating knows this better than anyone as she recently moved into the same care home as her 80-year-old son, Tom, in order to keep an eye on him.

Tom is the oldest of Ada’s four children and became a resident at Moss View care home in Liverpool in 2016 due to needing more support. When Ada learned of this, she had herself relocated to the same care home so that they could enjoy old age together, since her husband, Harry, had already passed away.

The pair are now inseparable and spend every day together, relaxing, playing games and watching Emmerdale. They are able to wish each other a good night and good morning every day and enjoy lots of hugs and cups of tea. But the parenting instinct never leaves as Ada sometimes has to tell Tom to ‘behave himself’.

It’s very touching to see the close relationship both Tom and Ada share and we are so pleased we were able to accommodate both of their needs. It’s very rare to see mothers and their children together in the same care home and we certainly want to make their time together as special as possible.

When children grow up and move out they rely less and less on their parents, so it’s nice to see this pair come around full circle. I’m sure that Ada loves having her son around again and enjoys reprising her motherly duties as much as she can.
