Whitney Braley could never imagine life without her Husky best friend. Banner the husky, the now-3-year-old dog, is trained to assist Whitney with her many important daily tasks.
She alerts to PTSD episodes, anxiety attacks, migraines, guide work, momentum pull, medication retrieval, self-harm interruption and a few more. We do a lot of rescues, and she’s always attached to kittens.
Two years ago I had my first bottle baby kitten that was found in a ditch, and Banner raised her. That particular cat still lives with us but she’s fostered at least ten different litters of kittens over the years.
Banner had been with Whitney since she was a little pup. Whitney trained Banner herself to assist herself and others with a multitude of tasks. But this time, Banner was about to discover something truly wonderful. Something that would only increase her hero status.
Banner was out for a walk with Whitney in the woods when she wandered off. Banner spotted a sealed cardboard box in the woods and immediately alerted Whitney. When Whitney followed Banner to the box, she was horrified by what she found when she opened it up.
Inside the box was 7 newborn kittens
The tiny kittens were barely a day old and they were freezing to death. It was a truly harrowing scene for Whitney to find, but they proceeded to try and rescue the kittens with Banner.
Someone must have just put them into a cardboard box, closed the lid tight and left them there to die. They probably thought that no one would ever discover them. I don’teven know how Banner knew they were in there. The kittens were freezing and weren’t meowing or anything.
Whitney couldn’t believe what Banner had stumbled across. She didn’t expect to see anything as horrible as these 7 kittens lying abandoned in the woods.
Banner the Husky had found the kittens just in time
It makes me sick that anyone could do that to these tiny innocent animals. It’s so cruel and heartless.
Whitney took the kittens home with them to try and help them heal. Banner hasn’t left the kittens’ side since and she treats them as if they were her own children.
Now I will find the kittens appropriate homes, that will love them forever. Our local shelter kills in three days, so it’s best if I do it myself. That’s the reason I always end up fostering babies. I don’t want them to die.
Banner’s maternal instincts kicked in immediately, she began to nurse the kittens back to health with help from her owner.
I’m so happy that now because of Banner, these kittens will go on to live their lives with loving families. It warms my heart.
