Loving Kitty Brings Owner A Gift Every Morning, But One Day She Turns Up With Something Strange

By - 24th January 2018

When Ben’s girlfriend adopted a cat for the pair, he didn’t want the commitment and returned the cat to her original owners. But soon after, the pair realised that they had made a big mistake and returned to recollect the kitty. Naming the beautiful black cat Baloo, they quickly fell in love with the affectionate feline. So when Ben and his girlfriend split up, there was one question on their mind – who would take Baloo?

The pair both loved her but they couldn’t both keep her, so initially his ex-girlfriend took Baloo. However, when she moved in with her parents she considered putting Baloo up for adoption.

Ben wouldn’t have it and took Baloo home with him to his student house, comprising of six guys and their four girlfriends. It was a busy house to say the least, but Baloo thrived in her new environment.

Despite the constant noise and partying, Baloo loved her home and quickly made a name for herself in the building. The neighbours love her and feed her, which has turned her into “a chubby little fluff ball” as Ben puts it.

She’s a very loving cat, all the people in my current apartment block know her by name because she seems to hang out in the other flats quite a lot.

But despite all the attention she gets, there is only one person that Baloo truly loves… and that is Ben.

Baloo began to show her affection for Ben by bringing him gifts to wake up to in the morning. Every morning she would hop through the window and onto Ben’s chest, where she would place her gifts. However they weren’t gifts that were particularly well received…

I’d wake up to her on my chest, with something in her mouth which she would then drop on my face/chest and meow. I was getting woken up by a small rodent being dropped on my face and that solicits a certain reaction in the morning as you can probably imagine.

Understandably, Ben would jump out of bed and throw out Baloo’s ‘gifts’ in front of her, in the hopes of conveying to her how unwanted these certain gifts were.

She always looked so confused and sad which made me feel pretty bad. I can’t be mad at her for being a cat, and besides I’m pretty sure she thinks she’s doing good.

Over the course of two months, Baloo brought Ben over two dozen rodents and two birds. Ben would release them outside again, unhurt but obviously traumatised.

After months of rejection from Ben, Baloo realised that she needed to change her form of affection and she began looking elsewhere for gifts. Eventually, she found a perfect alternative; she began to bring Ben leaves.

Instead of waking up to rodents on his face, Ben was instead receiving specially picked leaves and branches from his loving kitty. To show his appreciation he would take the leaves and play with them in front of her, giving her lots of cuddles.

The image of opening my eyes to see my little kitty staring at me with a giant leaf in her mouth is so cute. My reaction would have been pretty clear to anyone that I was happy.

Baloo had finally cracked the code and figured out what made her human happy, and since then, she hasn’t stopped her morning routine. Every morning she has a new leaf for the pair to play with.

I just picture her wandering around thinking “ooh that’s a nice leaf, he’ll love this one!”… “no this one’s far too similar to the one he’s already got”. What an adventure she’d have every time I slept. It’s too cute.

Ben keeps the leaves that Baloo brings for him, although by the end of the day she has usually shredded them up. Oh well, I guess it’s the thought that counts…

What a sweet, loving cat! Does your pet do anything similar to Baloo to show their affection? Leave your anecdotes in the comments below and share Baloo’s adorable story with your friends. 🐝
