Lonely Chimp is Rescued From Horrific Cell – The Moment She Meets a Friend Will Leave You in Tears

By - 11th July 2017

It’s never easy meeting someone new for the first time, but this couldn’t be more true for a 32-year-old lonely chimp who has had no companionship for many years. After spending a number of years locked in a cell at a roadside zoo in Georgia, Iris spent most of her time cuddled up under a dirty old blanket, living in horrendous conditions.

Thankfully PETA then stepped in and after many negotiations, she was set free and sent to the Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida.

Normally it can take weeks, even months to reintroduce chimps like Iris to others again, but after only a few days she was introduced to her neighbor Abdul, and they hit it off immediately. It’s the first time she had seen one of her own in years!

It’s clear to see that Iris is very happy, especially with her new friend. Soon, she will be introduced to more chimps and will surely live the rest of her life in happiness.
