Diver Josh Eccles is used to coming across fascinating sea creature during his dives, but this experience with a shark stood out from the rest. Luckily, a fellow diver’s camera captured the whole interaction.
Josh was enjoying a dive in the warm Atlantic Ocean when the Florida resident came across a large lemon shark. While lemon sharks are known for attacking humans, Josh became a bit concerned when the sea creature began hovering nearby.
Josh is used to having close encounters with sea creatures, but this shark was getting a bit too close for comfort. As it continued to get closer and closer to him, eventually swimming alongside him, another diver’s camera caught the interaction.
The shark started bumping Josh, inducing a slight panic in him. But then he realized what the shark was trying to tell him. He looked closer and discovered a sharp hook embedded in the shark’s stomach. It quickly became clear what the shark was trying to tell him; it wanted him to remove the hook.
The diver’s camera caught the whole thing
A fellow diver’s camera caught Josh’s next move on camera as he bravely decided to take action. Josh got up close to the shark and began removing the hook. Needless to say, the shark was very grateful for his help as it happily swam off free of its pain. But it wasn’t over there as the shark swam back up to Josh to thank him properly.
Watch the incredible rescue in the video below. The shark obviously knew it could trust Josh and he very may well have saved its life. Or at the very least, relieved its pain.
