What’s a cow’s favorite music? Why they like any kind of moo-sic! Oh wait, it’s smooth jazz? Apparently so. 53-year-old Rick Hermann decided to take his saxophone on a run with him (don’t we all?) and thought the local cows would enjoy a tune.
He noted that they are always curious, and wondered if they’d like his songs. He played a bunch of classic hits, including Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely, Careless Whisper by George Michael, and Tequila by The Champs. A passerby even joined in with the lyrics for that last one!
But then, Rick’s daughter Erin posted the video on Twitter. However, she didn’t expect it to be this popular. The response was phenomenal, and the tweet has been liked nearly 900,000 times, proving that this really is the song of the summer.
“We see these cows and they always seem to be so curious,” Rick said. “So when I get back I asked my wife, ‘do you think the cows will enjoy the saxophone?’ And she said ‘let’s go try it’.”
my parents are such goofs they drove out to the backroads so my dad could play the cows the songs he’s been learning on the saxophone pt.1 pic.twitter.com/IHzgxtvo0N

And the rest is history. The Internet loved the wholesome video, but the response was unbelievably positive.
“Most of it has been really positive,” said Erin.”A lot of people have said they were having a really hard day. Or so many bad things were happening, and this was just a little bit of positivity and boosted their moods.”
Rick believes more people should follow in his footsteps. “I encourage people to learn a new skill as you get older. Try new things, challenge yourself, stretch yourself a little bit. It’s good to keep your brain and your heart active.”
