In early October, Moonglade Rose, an animal rescuer, came across a distressed kitten in need of immediate medical attention. The poor kitten was rushed to ER and thankfully brought back to full health, although he was shaken.
Moonglade named the kitten Opie and brought him home with her. Knowing that her other rescue cat, Andy, was used to ruling the house, she wondered how he would react to another feline in his territory. But her worries weren’t needed.
As soon as Andy heard the tiny kitten’s cries, he came running to his aid. The sweet tabby wrapped his arms around the kitten and welcomed him into the home, grooming him and comforting him.
Andy welcomed him immediately and wouldn’t stop hugging him and kissing him.
Sweet Andy stayed by his new buddy’s side all of his first night in the house, letting him know that he was safe. It looks like Opie had a new big brother.
The pair bonded immediately and Andy took Opie under his wing, showing him the ropes and nurturing him back to being a confident little kitty. Moonglade couldn’t believe how affectionate Andy had become; he clearly adores Opie.
Maybe the pair bonded over their similar sad pasts. Andy himself had been found abandoned at a gas station and had been saved from near death.
The two snugglebugs woke up Moonglade the next morning meowing for love and attention. Although it didn’t seem like they needed too much now that they had each other.
Opie was settling in perfectly into his new home. After every meal, Opie would crawl onto Moonglade’s chest and curl up for a little nap, purring the whole time. He was clearly content.
Opie seems to trust me and keeps falling asleep on me. Little guy fits in my hand. And Andy absolutely loves him.
Andy was never far away from Opie, staying close to his human mom and new baby brother to keep watch. It’s safe to say the two rescue cats found a loving, cuddly home in each other.
While Andy used to cuddle up with his mom Moonglade, he now has mostly ditched her for his feline friend. He never lets him out of earshot and showers him with love constantly. After coming from such harsh conditions, it’s wonderful that little Opie is finally in a home where he is loved unconditionally.
Andy gives his brother lots of love and has been teaching him about the litter box, how to land on his feet, how to hunt and play, but mostly how to cuddle.
And it seems that the rescue kittens have not only been saved by Moonglade, but they saved her too.
I was adopted… there’s always been something missing, even after I met my birth family, but Andy saved my life. And now Opie seems to be doing the same for Andy. What goes around comes around.
It has been 6 weeks since Opie joined the family and they are all closer than ever. How lucky they all were to find each other.
