There are few things more horrible and despicable than animal cruelty. But, in recent years things have moved on. Abusers now use things like acid in their attacks. Where a punch or kick would hurt an animal, acid can leave much more permanent damage and is often life-threatening. However, when Tommy the cat suffered one such attack, he took it all in his stride.

An unknown assailant attacked Tommy, whose real name is Sir Thomas Trueheart, last month. However, luckily a local rescue shelter managed to save his life. A woman found him on her doorstep after the attack and immediately took him to the vet. But, the vet said there was nothing he could do. The woman reached out on social media and was told to head to Milo’s Sanctuary Inc. who specializes in looking after disabled and terminally ill cats.

Their goal is to give animals a second chance at life, in spite of their disabilities, special needs, or illnesses. They took Tommy to a special animal hospital who saved his life. He lost an eye in the operation, but that has not dampened his lovable and affectionate personality.

Soon, Milo’s Sanctuary posted about Tommy on their Facebook page, and fans loved him. He soon became the face of their fundraisers, including appearing in a special TV spot. He looks a little rough around the edges, but he is as lovable and friendly as ever. Many fans want to adopt him, but the shelter maintains he needs more rehabilitation. He may never be adopted, to ensure he is always in the hands of specialists and experts. However, they are keeping him happy at the shelter.
