Without sounding like a broken record, I’d again like to stress the joys of dancing! I know, you hear me say it a lot, but surely the evidence is there, we’ve shown you some great videos of people getting their boogie shoes on in the best way possible. Thankfully, we’ve been blessed with another, this time we have an adorable granny doing The Electric Slide.
This woman is much more ‘hip-hop’ than hip-op’. She loves to get down to her own beat and dance like nobody’s watching. I’m speaking about 87-year-old Jean Hupp.
Jean lives with her husband, Paul, in a community for assisted living in Decatur, Illinois. But don’t be fooled by this octogenarian’s age, just because she’s old doesn’t mean she doesn’t love to party! During a birthday party in the facility’s ballroom for a fellow resident, Jean was caught freestyling to The Electric Slide in her own special way.
Marcia Griffiths‘ song ‘The Electric Slide’ is a staple of parties, weddings and birthdays everywhere. A simple line dance style routine with easy-to-learn footwork and minimal choreography – the perfect song to get everybody grooving. However, if you’re anything like Jean, you’ll be happy to freestyle your way through the song.
Jean loves to dance The Electric Slide – but she doesn’t need choreography
Sarah Butts, a resident service coordinator for Eagle Ridge of Decatur where Jean lives says she’s not at all shocked by Jean’s ferocious dance moves.
“Mrs. Hupp loves to dance; she has been dancing her whole life,”
Jean and her husband, Paul, have lived in the facility for over 3 years now and Sarah says Jean is always first to the dancefloor.
“This is so Jean – she is always the life and soul of the party. She loves to keep moving her body and mind, she says it helps to keep her young. We all absolutely loved seeing her and the other residents enjoying themselves. It’s so rewarding.“
It looks like Jean has no signs of stopping anytime soon. We’re glad she’s not, you can’t hold back a woman with such life and a love of dance!
I wish we all had a bit more confidence like Jean! Don’t forget to watch her dance The Electric Slide in the video below. Also, at Happiest we love hearing all of your opinions. So please let us know what you thought of the article in the comment section. ?
