2 y/o With Down Syndrome Can Barely Talk, But When His Sister Starts To Sing A Miracle Occurs

Children with a learning disability have a disadvantage when it comes to learning new skills and the basics of life, such as walking and talking. It can be a long, hard road for the family, but it is worth it when you make a break through.

Amanda Gray is a mother to five children, the youngest of which is Bo. Bo is 25 months old and has down syndrome.

At the age of 25 months old, toddlers are generally expected to be able to say approximately 50 words, but Bo has only 12 words in his vocabulary. When your child has difficulty learning, it is important to try out different methods to see which the child responds best to. And it turns out that Bo’s inspiration is music.

Every word that Bo has learnt has been through the magic of music and singing, thanks to his big sister, Lydia.

In a recent video that Amanda posted to Facebook, she shows Lydia playing her guitar and singing with baby Bo in the hall and it is a truly heartwarming watch. As Lydia plays and sings Johnny Cash’s song ‘You are my sunshine’, she stops at the end of the sentences to give Bo a chance to finish off the lines and the results are extraordinary.

My daughter Lydia was watching Bo while I was in the shower. Came out to this. If she didn’t have a guitar I don’t know if she would know how to babysit him. This is her go to. It’s proof that music therapy works.

Baby Bo tries with all his might to make the sounds of the words to the popular song, as he dances along to his sister’s guitar. Music clearly runs through his veins as he enjoys his sister’s playing, which makes sense considering their father is a musician; music is in their blood.

The wonderful video was shared on ‘Love What Matters’ and within 17 hours the video had amassed over 150,000 shares and over 175,000 likes. It seems that a lot of people appreciate the beautiful bond that Lydia and Bo share as she patiently aids her baby brother in his learning.

Watch the video for yourself to see the touching scene – my heart felt like it might burst watching this!
