We all have big dreams. Maybe some of us dream of being a doctor or a teacher, or a sports player or a mother; we all have something we want to become. For 10-year-old Taylor, her dream is to become a pilot.
Taylor has dreamt of becoming a pilot since she was only 4-years-old and when UPS heard about her passion, they wanted to do something very special for her. UPS sent her to UPS Worldport for an exciting day of experiencing what her future in the skies could look like.
There was this one boy, he said ‘you can’t be a pilot because you’re a girl.’ Girls can do as much as boys can.
As her mother drives her to the Worldport, Taylor has no idea what is in store for her. But when she asks where they are going and her mother says “That would have to do with your career; where would you like to go?” Taylor instantly knows where they are heading.
Handed her own UPS uniform, Taylor can’t believe her luck as she is given a tour of Worldport by female UPS pilot Captain Gloria Hatcher; a woman who embodies everything that Taylor hopes to become as she grows older. After the tour, she is then introduced to Captain Dave who will take her on the trip of a lifetime.
In the capable hands of Captain Dave, Taylor co-pilots her first ever flight as they soar into the sky on a six-seater Beechcraft. Gazing around the endless skies in front of her, it is clear that Taylor is on cloud nine as she takes over from Captain Dave and flies the plane herself.
I’m sure that this special day didn’t deter Taylor from her dreams but only served as more proof that this is what she wants to do with her life.
As they debark the plane together, Captain Dave gives Taylor a pep-talk that is so inspirational it moves her to tears. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy as you watch this video that proves that our dreams are always within our reach if we want them badly enough.
